LAN vs WAN
Hey everyone! In this article, I will talk about what a LAN and WAN is and the differences between them.
Let's get started!
What is a LAN?
- LAN stands for Local Area Network.
- It is a network in a local area or small geographical area.
- It is usually a group of network devices connected in the same building.
- Typically, a LAN would be a network in an office or building.
- If you leave that physical location, you can no longer connect to that network.
- It also has a higher data transfer rate than a WAN.
What is a WAN?
- WAN stands for a Wide Area Network.
- It is a network that spreads across a larger geographical area.
- It connects multiple networks that are separated.
- WAN can be a LAN that connects with another LAN using telephone lines and radio waves.
- It connects multiple sites and spans large geographical regions.
- Some examples of this include the Internet and different buildings on a college campus.
